The Original Jack Daniel's Tipsy Cake was created in 1984, when Lamar Alexander (then governor of Tennessee) wanted a uniquely Tennessee dessert for the National Governor's Association Conference he was hosting. This special cake was created, using all natural ingredients from an old family Southern pecan recipe, and probably the best known taste of Tennessee - Jack Daniel's Sippin' Whiskey. Since the 50 governors were the first to receive the Tipsy Cake, the cakes have become a tradition for gift giving and special family occasions across the country. In 1988, they started baking their cakes in historic Lynchburg (right down the road from the Jack Daniel's Distillery). If you visit them there, you can see them bake their cakes, hand-dip candies and try their other Southern Delicacies in their gift shop.
